Gen Z gamers are now spending twice as much time with friends in the metaverse than they do in real life

With the upsurge of the online community it is found that most of the Gen Z games nowadays spend a lot of time interacting with friends in metaverse than what they do in real life. There are many reasons why this has happened, especially in recent years. DXB APPS provides an explanation for this sudden spurt of interaction in the metaverse.

In today’s world metaverse has a great impact on one’s identity and social interactions. It provides an opportunity for brands to provide a new space where people can interact. One of the reasons for increasing interaction of Gen Z gamers in the metaverse is due to the fact that most of them spend almost 12 hours in gaming while they spend only around 6 hours in real life interactions. The gamers take this space very seriously as 52% of them want to make money through metaverse while 33% of them want to build a career through this. These results were found on the basis of a survey report.

These Gen Z gamers purchase their game items similar to people purchasing things in real life. The survey reports say how in the upcoming years gamers (on an average 20%) will go for in game purchase. Currently the average current spending is $50/ year. The gamers want brands to provide virtual stores in the metaverse. They want this as it makes browsing and purchasing a lot easier.

Another reason why Gen Z gamers might spend a lot of time in the metaverse can be due to the fact that they think this space to be safe for them to freely express themselves. Here they are given the freedom to experiment with their identities, form new bonds and create a world they desire to live in.

Brands will not be able to expand further and lose chances if they ignore the importance of metaverse. Metaverse has risen to be one of the trendy topics discussed in 2022. Gen Z is growing up with it so the markets are trying to come to an understanding with it. It is no longer a futuristic concept rather a reality that Gen Z is growing up with. It is found that 57% of these Gen Z gamers found it easier to express themselves in a game than what they do in real life. It is their escape but at the same time it is real to them. Metaverse has grown so much that it has started to impact the way the gamers are thinking and socializing each day.

The Metaverse is impacting the reality of Gen Z gamers beyond the brand experience they provide. Many gamers mention how this space has given them the opportunity to express their true identity. More than 35% of them have mentioned how they feel their identity in the game is a truer representation of themselves. While 30% say that this space has helped them build their self- confidence.

Many gamers say that it helps them relieve stress which is one of the reasons they spend so much time in the metaverse. Almost 70% of the Gen Z gamers spend twice the amount of time in metaverse as it relieves their stress and anxiety.

However, the gamers are also practical about it. As mentioned earlier many would also like to build a career out of it. There are also some gamers who are concerned about data privacy in the metaverse.

Brands today can attract a lot of traction by investing in metaverse due the amount of time spent here by the Gen Z gamers. The brands can get started by keeping in mind the link between metaverse and real life, knowing what they are delivering, being sure of what the consumers need and sticking to their ethics.
